Professor Young-Gab Kim of the Department of Information Security at Sejong University received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the ‘2024 World Standards Day Ceremony,’ in recognition of his significant contribution to industrial development and the strengthening of national competitiveness through standardization activities.
Professor Kim serves as an expert member of ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 41 (IoT and Digital Twins) and SC 32 (Data Management and Interchange). In particular, at SC 41 he newly submitted the ｢IoT Interoperability Technology Draft Standard｣ based on a standard patent, which is currently at the final draft circulation stage (https://webstore.iec.ch/en/publication/73207). This draft standard is expected to promote use of the IoT field and create economic benefits.
In addition, as a member of the standards establishment and revision committee of the Intelligent CCTV Project Group of the Telecommunications Technology Association, Professor Kim has contributed to enhancing national competitiveness by establishing four standards related to synopsis and video encryption, which are major core technologies of intelligent CCTV.
